More than cooking — a structured learning journey where children explore how morning food affects their body and learn to make their own breakfast decisions.

About the programme
Power Breakfast Series is part of the Cooking Lama Food Edutainment methodology and Smart Food Club programme. This series is designed not simply to teach children how to prepare breakfast, but to help them understand how food supports their body and brain throughout the day.
Through hands-on experience, children gradually move from: "I eat breakfast" to "I understand how food helps me feel, think, and stay focused".
What children gain
Through the programme, children:
understand how morning food influences energy, mood, and focus;
begin to notice how they feel after eating;
learn to make simple food choices independently;
build confidence in morning food routines.
What happens in each 90 min session
Each session begins with a short food edutainment experience — children explore "power breakfast" through interactive activities and simple concepts, starting to understand how food works in the body, exploring how breakfasts influence how they feel.
Then they move into hands-on cooking and go through the full process: organize cooking station → measure → cook → serve → enjoy → clean
Each time, they prepare a real breakfast dish, inspired by different cultures from scratch, working with ingredients such as fruits, grains, dairy, eggs and others.
How the programme unfolds
Each session includes a different breakfast — carefully designed to reflect the concept of the lesson.
Session 1 (17 April) — Morning meal principles Recipe: Warm berry crumble → understanding how breakfast supports body and brain
Session 2 (24 April) — Energy that lasts Recipe: Millet breakfast bowl with fruit and seeds powder topping → exploring which foods keep us energised for longer
Session 3 (1 May) — Sugar & energy crash Recipe: Wholemeal fluffy pancakes with homemade sauce → discovering how sugar affects energy and mood
Session 4 (8 May) — Building a real power & balanced breakfast Recipe: Golden egg frittata with hidden veggie mix → learning how to combine ingredients into a balanced meal
Session 5 (15 May) — Breakfast around the world Recipe: Cultural breakfast experience → exploring how different cultures build morning meals
Session 6 (22 May) — My own power breakfast Recipe: Whole-grain waffles making + children’s creative combinations & ingredient choices → applying knowledge and making independent choices
The most important part of the programme is not the recipe itself, but the full process — from understanding food to preparing and experiencing it.
Each session follows a structured food edutainment approach with carefully designed activities, ingredients and learning outcomes.
Why it matters:
Smart Food Club is not about recipes.
It is about helping children:
build real-life food independence;
understand their body and how it responds to food;
understand the connection between food and behaviour;
feel confident making everyday choices.
Most importantly, it supports children in building a positive and conscious relationship with food.
Optional extension: Little Garden Club (30 min)
Little Garden Club (Discovery Lab & Quest) is an outdoor program thoughtfully adapted to Dubai’s climate, where children explore food through nature by combining observation, sensory experience, and simple scientific discovery. During the warmer months, sessions are designed as short, structured activities in shaded areas and built around real-time observations of plants: what happens to leaves in the sun, how texture and taste change, and why food behaves differently in heat. These observations naturally lead into small, hands-on experiments with food and plant-based ingredients, helping children understand fundamental processes — from water and heat to changes in color, taste, and structure — through their own experience. This approach preserves a meaningful connection with nature while adding a layer of inquiry, making each session both engaging and relevant to everyday life.
